I love my Hue lights… mostly. Sometimes they need a little persuasion when turning them off, and they could be a little brighter. My biggest issue though, is that they were designed to turn themselves on after losing power. That means that after a power outage all of your hue lights will be on, possibly burning the midnight oil!
Fed up with having all the lights on in the house after a power blip, I wrote a script to resolve the issue. If you have the same problem and are looking for a fix, take a look.
The script in its current form will require that you have a CyberPower UPS hooked up to a *nix machine… not for the faint of heart I guess. But, since I couldn’t find any other solution out there on the web, I figured that I should put this out there.
